Polls have opened for overseas voting in the Syrian presidential elections. Voting is scheduled to last one day. The Syrian Foreign Ministry estimates that 200 thousand Syrian nationals living out of state have the right to vote and can do so at 38 embassies around the world.
That being said, some countries in the west and along the Persian Gulf, including a last-minute decision made by the United Arab Emirates, have already announced that they will not open their doors for voting, in protest against the conduct of the Syrian government. Voting will take place in Syria on June 3rd.
