Honenu: Gush Halav Indictments Stem from Media Pressure

Attorney Adi Kedar of the Honenu legal-aid organization criticized, Monday afternoon, indictments against three minors from the Samarian (Shomron) Jewish community of Yitzhar in connection with vandalism, last month in the Galilee Arab settlement of Jeesh, built on the ruins of the Jewish community of Gush Halav. Kedar, who is representing two of them, said, "Apparently media pressure and the period of time is what brought about the indictment. In a similar criminal case, an indictment would not be submitted, based on such a web of evidence."

Kedar continued, "The reading of the request for remand alone indicates that there's no direct evidence linking the suspects to the deeds." He added, "It is a collection of circumstantial evidence and different opinions on which the state is trying to capitalize. At the same time, the indictment was filed just a few hours ago. We will study the evidence, we will understand the picture more in depth and will respond accordingly."
