Broadcast Authority Reform Scheduled for 1st Reading

A government bill for reform of the Israel Broadcasting Authority (IBA) is scheduled to receive its first reading in the Knesset on Monday.

Under the proposal, the IBA as it's presently constituted, will be replaced. Of the approximately 1,900 employees to be dismissed under the closure of the old authority, only about 600 will comprise the new one. The television and radio license fee will be cancelled between March and September of 2015.
