Pope Francis Lands in Israel

Pope Francis, leader of the Catholic Church, landed, Sunday afternoon, at Ben-Gurion Airport, southeast of Tel Aviv. He was received by President Shim'on Peres and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

The pontiff visited Bethlehem, south of Jerusalem, earlier, making him the first pope to visit the Palestinian Authority before Israel. He flew by helicopter from Bethlehem to Ben-Gurion.
