Supreme Court Downs Yeshiva Student Income Guarantees


A seven-judge panel of the Supreme Court ordered, Sunday, the revoking of a government decision to pay a stipend of income guarantees to about 10,000 hareidi yeshiva students. The stipend amounted to about 100 million shekels ($28.7 million) a year.

The court ruled that the stipend was discriminatory and inconsistent with the claim that the money would bring about the student's going out into the labor market.
