The Los Angeles City Council is scheduled honor the Israeli American Council (IAC), Friday, for the IAC’s dedication to the Israeli-American community and for its contributions to the city. Just days ago, the IAC hosted the Celebrate Israel Festival, drawing some 15,000 people, bringing the community together as never before to mark Yom Ha’atzmaut (Israel Independence Day).
Established in 2007 to serve the estimated 250,000 Israeli-Americans who reside throughout greater Los Angeles, the IAC went national in 2013, , building community and supporting 30 Israeli-American organizations throughout the United States. The IAC continues to pursue its vision of strengthening the Israel-American community, the State of Israel, and securing a strong Jewish future. Among its programs are MISHELANU, a young leadership group on American college campuses where Israeli-Americans come together to strengthen their Jewish and Israeli identities and their ties to Israel; and TZAV 8, which organizes community activists to participate in demonstrations and pro-Israeli activities.
