Former Knesset speaker Reuven Rivlin said, Friday, that he would be happy to get the support of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu in his bid to succeed President Shim'on Peres. Interviewed by Channel 2 Television, Rivlin said, "I'll be happy if all the Members of Knesset support me; certainly if they're from my movement or leaders of my movement." He added, "I haven't argued with anyone."
Senior Likud members are trying to arrange a meeting between Rivlin and Netanyahu that will lead to an endorsement. At Netanyahu's request, Yuli-Yoel replaced Rivlin as Knesset speaker and it was recently reported that Netanyahu had a number of plans to keep Rivlin away from the presidency.
