Ashkelon: Compromise on the Separate Beach

This week, the city of Ashkelon inaugurated a separate beach to serve the city’s religious and haredi communities.

In the days preceding the inauguration, intensive talks were held between nature activists and municipality members. Activists demanded that a modesty divider not be stretched into the sea, since they believed it would endanger surfers. A compromise was reached and the divider was only set up on land.
