US: Man Accused of Attempting to Sell Uranium to Iran Walks

A Florida courthouse acquitted a Sierra Leone citizen accused of attempting to sell uranium to Iran.

The suspect, Patrick Campbell, was arrested in August of 2013 in New York’s JFK airport. He admitted to investigators that he did have samples of raw uranium in a pair of shoes packed in his suitcase. The prosecution claimed that the suspect had agreed to sell 1,000 tons of “yellow cake” uranium capable of being used to create nuclear weapons after being enriched.
