El-Sisi: Israel Knows It Needs Egyptian Soldiers in Sinai

The leading candidate in the upcoming Egyptian presidential elections, Abed Fattah el-Sisi, told local Egyptian radio stations yesterday (Monday) that “Israel knows that if the Egyptian army would not maintain its presence in the Sinai Peninsula, Israel would be in great danger.”

El-Sis also attempted to explain in the interview his prior exclamations regarding a possibility that the existing peace accords with Israel be altered. “The Egyptian army acts in Sinai as it wills. If the ramifications of terror in Sinai necessitate a change in the accords, so it shall be, and Israel will not oppose it because Israel is aware of the gravity of the situation.”
