Honenu: 10-Year-Old Detained and Hit by Detectives

The Honenu legal-aid organization is looking at the possibility of suing the police for false arrest, following the detention on Monday of three brothers from Bat Ayin in the Gush Etzion bloc of Judean Jewish communities. As detectives were driving away from Bat Ayin with two of the brothers, ages 17 and 19, - without explaining why - police say their 10-year-old brother threw a rock at the car and was also arrested. The brothers say that on the way to the Gush Etzion police station, the detectives beat and choked the 10-year-old.

The 10-year-old was released because of his age. The older brothers said different accusations and threats were directed at them before they were released to house arrest for five days and were not allowed to leave Bat Ayin for 15 days. A 12-year-old resident was arrested for blocking police as they tried to enter the community's synagogue. He was released later.
