Karmiel Told to Stop Charging Admission to Park

The State Comptroller's Office and the Commissioner of Public Complaints ordered the western-Galilee city of Karmiel, Monday, to immediately stop charging admission to its "Karmi-Kef" or "Park Hamishpaha" municipal park. The decision followed a complaint about the city's charging admission to people who are not Karmiel residents.

The city had argued it was not a "public park" because of the attractions and amenities, and that the city's system of community centers, which operates the park, was charging admission to pay for maintenance of the attractions and amenities.
