Inmate Complaining of Insufferable Conditions Receives AC

The Administrative Courts ordered that Police Services (Shabas) supply a convict serving time in the Hasharon prison with an air conditioner or cooler. The ruling was handed down after the inmate filed a petition via his attorney Yaakov Kahan, stating that the conditions of his prison cell were insufferable.

The petition drew the attention of the presiding judge, who visited the jail cell herself and found that “The air in the cell is too thick.” The police services suggested widening the cell’s window, but the courts rejected their proposal in favor of the installation of a cooling unit.
