Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange started Monday trading with modest gains. Around 11:00 a.m., the TA Composite Index stood at 1,248.99, up .18 percent from Sunday's close, while the TA 100 rose two tenths of a percent to 1,251.13, including an advance of .14 percent to 1,385.86 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The stocks outside the TA 100 stood at 1,056.69, down .07 percent.
Leading the sectors was the insurance index, which climbed 1.08 percent to 1,510.75 as the financial institutions stood at 1,285.76, up .33 percent, including a gain of .06 percent to 1,326.44 by the bank issues. The oil and natural-gas stocks stood at 1,390.77, up .42 percent, and the real-estate index rose .28 percent to 395.80. Most of the technology issues stood at 334.72, up .33 percent, while the biomed stocks advanced .17 percent to 929.98 and the communications index slipped .08 percent to 812.03.
