Israeli Islamist Leader Fined for Obstructing Police

The Jerusalem Magistrates Court fined Sheikh Raed Salah, head of the northern branch of the Israel Islamic Movement, 9,000 shekels ($2,600) Monday, on an April conviction for obstructing police. The conviction stemmed from an incident in which Sheikh Salah interfered when police questioned and searched his wife at the Allenby Bridge Crossing from Jordan to Israel.
