50% Fewer Visitors to Meron for Lag B'Omer

Police and worshippers in the central Galilee community of Meron agreed, Sunday, that the number of visitors for Lag B'Omer, the 33rd intermediate day between Passover and Shavuot, was down significantly from last year.

A worshiper from Kiryat Ye'arim, west of Jerusalem, attributed what he called a 50-percent drop in attendance to warnings against the use of private cars. A worshiper from Ashdod noted that the public transportation provided to the Tomb of Rabbi Shim'on Bar Yohai worked smoothly, as compared to years past.
