West Africa: We Will Wage ‘Total War’ on Boko Haram

Yesterday (Saturday), leaders of the West African countries bordering Nigeria- Chad, Cameroon, Benin and Niger met in Paris for the purpose of formulating a plan to wage “Total war” on Boko Haram terrorists, saying that the Islamist Extremist group has become a regional Al-Qaeda branch hose threats must be put at bay. The officials’ plan will allow them, for the first time, to share intelligence, coordinate joint action and safely guard their borders.

"Boko Haram is no longer a local terrorist group, it is operating clearly as an al Qaeda operation, it is an al Qaeda of West Africa," Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan announced after the meeting… We have shown our commitment for a regional approach. Without West African countries coming together we will not be able to crush these terrorists," he said.
