Olmert Sentence Tied to Uprooting of Jews

The Legal Forum for Israel reacted to the sentencing of former prime minister Ehud Olmert on corruption charges, Tuesday morning, by saying it could not be disconnected from his role in the uprooting of Jews from various parts of Israel during the government's Disengagement from Gaza and northern Samaria (Shomron) in 2005.

Similar sentiments were expressed by the Task Force for Saving the People and the Land, citing actions against other Jews in Samaria. The task force said, in a statement, that Prime Minister should take the sentence as a sign against land concessions. Rabbi Ya'ir Frank of the Samarian community of Amona, next to Ofra, north of Jerusalem, said he had been waiting for this moment since the violent destruction of Amona in 2006. he sii hoped Olmert would repent while in jail and rebuild with his hands what he brought down wit his office.
