Yesh Atid to Get Deputy Minister in Committee Deal

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Yesh Atid party chairman Ya'ir Lapid came to an agreement that Deputy Foreign Minister Ze'ev Elkin and outgoing Coalition Chairman Yariv Levin will share the chairmanship of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee. Lapid had sought to put Member of Knesset Ofer Shelah in the seat.

As a result, an additional deputy-minister position will go to someone from Yesh Atid. It was reported earlier, that Likud Beytenu Knesset member Tzachi Hanegbi, who vied for the chairmanship against Shelah, will replace Elkin as deputy foreign minister if the Knesset votes, Monday, to approve the chairmanship appointment.
