Knesset to Decide Foreign Affairs & Defense C'tee Chair

The chairmanship of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee is expected to come up for a vote, Monday, when the summer session of the Knesset convenes. Deputy Foreign Minister Ze'ev Elkin and outgoing Coalition Chairman Yariv Levin are expected to share the Likud Beytenu party's turn in the seat, with Likud Beytenu Member of Knesset Tzahi Hanegbi replacing Elkin as deputy foreign minister if Elkin is approved.

It is not yet clear how the Yesh Atid party will be compensated for Knesset member Ofer Shelah not assuming the chairmanship now, although he is expected to become part of the rotation before the end of the current government's term under a coalition agreement.
