MKs Oppose Delaying of Presidential Elections

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s initiative to change the law and delay the upcoming presidential elections by six months has raised much opposition within the Likud party.

After Minister of Interior Gideon Sar and MK Chaim Katz publicly announced their opposition to the initiative, MK Miri Regev joined their ranks this morning (Sunday). Regev proclaimed, “If you want to debate the institution of the presidency, you can do so after the upcoming elections,” indicating that a legislative change so close to the elections is would be undemocratic.
