Iranian Sources Report Sanctions Affecting Food Importation

Sources in Iran told the Reuters news agency that the sanctions and economic penalization of the country has made it difficult for the country to purchase food products for importation into Iran.

The sources claimed that hundreds of thousands of tons of food, such as wheat and sugar, are stuck midway to the country, as the sanctions placed on the country have made it difficult to make transactions. Iranian citizens have also reportedly begun to hoard food products following governmental cuts in food subsidies.
