Next Week: Salute to National Service Volunteers

The National Civilian Volunteer Service Authority is scheduled to hold a ceremony, Sunday at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, saluting national-service volunteers from all over the country. The ceremony will kick off a week to salute the national volunteer effort.

Authority Director Sar-Shalom Jerbi told Arutz Sheva that the new law regarding hareidi induction into the Israel Defense Forces has reduced the monthly number of new hareidi volunteers from 120 to 30 but said he expected the numbers to return to or surpass the 120 figure. He also said national service was preferable to military service for religious girls.
