Chief of Staff Benny Gantz of the Israel Defense Forces told 120 recipients of the President's Distinguished Service Pins, Tuesday, "To succeed and reach real achievements, society must encourage excellence." Addressing the awards ceremony at the President's Residence in Jerusalem, he added, "The distinguished ones sitting here today represent the tens of thousands of our soldiers and commanders at their posts even at this hour on land, sea, air, on the homefront and at headquarters. Thanks to their activities throughout the year, we can celebrate our independence today and through their merit be able to continue to celebrate our freedom in the years to come."
Gantz continued, "The Distinguished Service Pin we're bestowing on you is a sign of the great appreciation we feel for you and of our expectations of you. At the end of the fanfare and the ceremony, return to your units as guides. You must by 120 torches of excellence. The people of Israel look up to you, are proud of you and congratulate you."
