Attorney Itamar Ben-Gvir of the Honenu legal-aid organization said, Sunday, that the organization will appeal the extension, until Wednesday, of the remand of a Yitzhar resident suspected of nationalist vandalism, last week, in the northern Israeli-Arab city of Umm Al-Fahm. Ben Gvir responded to the extension by saying, "The remand is only due to public pressure by politicians, those politicians who are quiet when they burn synagogues in Lod or desecrate Jewish cemeteries on the Mount of Olives. They are the politicians who are now pressuring the police to make false arrests."
"Even the police know," said Ben-Gvir, "that my client was not at the event in Umm Al-Fham, He gave a full and detailed version that was confirmed. In fact it is an arrest that's only for display and the public relations of the police."
