Family Opens Casket, Receives Shock of Their Lives

The family of the late soldier Zion Tayeb, who reportedly fell during the Yom Kippur War, opened the soldier’s casket Saturday at Har Herzl without permission, only to find that the casket was empty.

The State had claimed time and again that the soldier had fallen in war, but the soldier’s family had refused to believe their son was lost. Years later, they finally succeeded in opening the casket, revealing many more questions and undoubtedly much frustration.
