Foreign Affairs, Defense C'tee to Get Chairman May 12th

The Knesset informed the Supreme Court, Thursday, that its House Committee will meet on May 12th to decide who will chair the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee. The parliament was responding to a petition over lawmakers' failure to fill the position since last November, when former chairman Avigdor Liberman left to return to the Foreign Ministry.

The Yisrael Hayom daily reported, Friday, that there are signs Deputy Foreign Minister Ze'ev Elkin and Coalition Chairman Yariv Levin from the Likud party, who want to leave those positions, will split the first half of the remaining term and Ofer Shelad of Yesh Atid will serve the second half. Until recently, Tzahi Hanegbi appeared to be the Likud choice for the position.
