The United States government has blocked the transfer of part of the annual military and financial aid promised to Egypt for the purpose of fighting terror in Sinai. The money was blocked in light of the death penalty that 683 Muslim Brotherhood movement members were sentenced to.
The American government has demonstrated opposing relations towards Egypt’s military regime. On the one hand, it condemns the denial of human rights and freedom of the individual and of communications systems. On the other hand, it supplies Egypt with funds due to its ongoing peace treaty with Israel and its battle against terror in Sinai.
