In the wake of past accidents involving injuries, the National Authority for Highway Safety asked motorists, Monday, to plan where they will stop for the two-minute siren to be sounded at 10:00 a.m. to mark the start of daytime observances for Holocaust Memorial Day. If possible, they should park ten minutes before the siren in a parking lot, gas station or other recognized parking spot.
If that is not possible, motorists should slow down and pull over to the side of the road, put on emergency lights, turn off the engine and take the keys with them. If possible, they should get away from their cars and stand behind a fence, barrier or traffic separator. If there is a need to cross a highway, do so in a safe way.
