Dozens of residents of Yamit and other Sinai communities gathered, Thursday, at the memorial to the fallen soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces' Tal Division to mark 32 years since they were removed by the government. While there, they looked down the Mediterranean coastline toward the uprooted community.
Avi Farhan, who was removed from both Sinai and northern Gaza, said, "This is our annual custom. Like the people who looked at Kfar Etzion in Gush Etzion from Kibbutz Ramat Rahel and finally returned to Kfar Etzion, so we hope to return to Yamit." He said that the uprooting of Yamit led to the uprooting of Gush Katif and warned against further "erosion".
