UK, France Try to Keep Citizens Out of Syrian Civil War

Britain and France have recently revealed new programs to keep their citizens from joining forces opposed to Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad, according to a Thursday report by Britain's Guardian newspaper. A number of European countries are concerned that those who enter the rebel camp return to their countries of origin with a jihadist agenda and knowledge of terrorist methods.

British police are trying to convince Muslim women to inform them of relatives who intend to go to Syria and warn them they'll be investigated upon their return. France is imposing restrictions on leaving the country without parental permission, increased contact with the families and legal steps against those suspected of war crimes in Syria, as well as the breaking up of jihadist Internet networks.
