Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu: Learn from Muslim Banks

The Chief Rabbi of Tzfat, Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu has called for an annulment of the ‘transactions permit’ which allows Israeli banks to charge interest even though interest is technically against Jewish law.

Rabbi Eliyahu pointed at local Muslim banks which do not charge interest, asking that Israeli banks do the same, so that traditional and religious customers can follow the Torah to the letter of the law.
