Peres Preaches Peace, Torah and Unity to Chief Rabbi

President Shim'on Peres said, Sunday, "We must preserve the unity of the people and not allow disintegration to harm us." He also told Sephardic Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yoseph, during the traditional visit on the eve of the Seventh-Day-of-Passover holiday, Peres continued, "The Jewish people must be based on the Ten Commandments, the values of the pursuit of peace and instilling Torah."

Rabbi Yoseph responded by citing Peres for his life of dedication to the people and the state and for the power of the traditional visit to unite sectors of the population. Referring to the upcoming end of Peres' presidential term, he wished him success in his future endeavors, adding, "May we all merit together to see the coming of the long-awaited peace, peace in our home first and then also peace with our neighbors."
