At least 20 people were murdered and another 70 wounded by gunmen posing as peaceful protestors who stormed a United Nations base in the South Sudan town of Bor on Thursday, according to Agence France Presse. United States Ambassador Samantha Power strongly condemned the incident as a "brazen, inhuman attack on unarmed civilians". The attack was condemned earlier by Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
The attackers used rocket-propelled grenades to breach the compound then fired on those sheltering inside. Power said the US will collaborate with its allies to determine who was responsible for the "horrific attack" and bring its perpetrators to justice.
