Israeli Arab Suspect Denies Contact with Foreign Agents

Israeli-Arab journalist and Balad (National Democratic Assembly) party activist Majd Kayyal denied, Thursday, suspicions that he made contacts with a foreign agent during a recent trip to Lebanon.

Interviewed by Channel 2 Television after he was released to house arrest, Kayyal said, "I left [Israel for a gathering of journalists in honor of 40th anniversary of the newspaper where I work." He said his arrest "shows the belief that any contact with the intellectual sphere in the Arab world is perceived as suspicious."
