Plan to Dismantle Shukhov Tower Has Muscovites Up in Arms

A campaign to save an elegant steel tower, part of Moscow’s skyline and often considered to be the Russian version of the Eiffel toward, has thousands of Muscovites, including many top international architects, up in arms.

The Russian communications ministry has planned to dismantle and relocate the Shokhov tower, but campaigners fear that once dismantled, it will be impossible to reconstruct.

This campaign is more important than a piece of architecture; it is about the people of Russia sounding a voice in their government’s decisions.
