Budget Deficit on the Way Down


The budget deficit for March was 2.5 billion shekels, compared to 2.9 billion in March 2013, according to figures released Monday by the Accountant General. A budget surplus of NIS 100 million was reported for the first quarter of 2014, compared to a defict of 4.7 billion last year.

The deficit for the 12 months ending in March was NIS 28.2 billion, about 2.65 percent of the gross domestic product, continuing a downward trend from the 3.15 percent of GDP in December.
