Jerusalem Synagogue without Permits Uprooted

The Jerusalem municipality used heavy equipment, Monday morning, to uproot the Heichal Nisim synagogue which had been built without permits on Zevin Street in the Neve Ya'akov neighborhood of northern Jerusalem. Last-minute lobbying efforts by hareidi representatives proved fruitless. A number of the dozens of demonstrators who sought to stop the demolition, including worshipers, were arrested.

The building was the center of a dispute between a number of non-profit groups for some time. Another Torah institution is expected to rise in its place.
