Former President Moshe Katzav petitioned the Central District Court, Sunday, for a furlough from prison to celebrate the Passover holiday with his family. Katzav is serving a seven-and-a-half-year sentence for sex crimes and obstruction of justice.
The petition came after the Prisons Service denied his application, saying he had used up his alloted vacation time. Katzav was out for Purim, about three weeks ago. The law said he would not be eligible for more leave until a month after Passover.
