ADL Concerned about Quebec Politician and Charter of Values

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today (Tuesday) expressed alarm at the continuing failure of Quebec political leaders to condemn the anti-Semitic and religiously intolerant Parti Québécois (PQ) representative Louise Mailloux.

In September 2013, the PQ proposed Bill 60, a “Charter of Values.” If passed, the charter would prohibit “overt and conspicuous” religious apparel, including kippot, hijabs, niqabs, and turbans in the workplace, including in exclusively religious establishments.

Many minority groups, including the Jewish community, are publicly and strongly opposed to Bill 60, a clear and outright violation of religious freedom.
