Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange started Tuesday trading with modest gains. About two hours into the session, the TA Composite Index stood at 1,288.58, up .36 percent, while the TA 100 rose .35 percent to 1,287.33, including a gain of a quarter of a percent to 1,405.76 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The stocks outside the TA 100 stood at 1,102.98, up .23 percent.
Leading the gainers was the biomed index, which climbed 1.09 percent to 1,114.03, while the rest of the technology issues stood at 358.84, up .34 percent. The oil and natural-gas stocks advanced .44 percent to 1,342.29, while the real-estate index stood at 395.40, up .12 percent, and the communications issues were virtually unchanged at 789.84. The bank stocks slipped .03 percent to 1,217.79 as the financial institutions stood at 1,287.96, down .06 percent, including a drop of .29 percent to 1,532.78 by the insurance index.
