With the popular stocks gaining ground, the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange finished the first day of the trading week, Sunday, with slight losses in mixed trading. The TA Composite Index closed at 1,282.55, down .01 percent from Thursday's close, while the TA 100 edged up .01 percent to 1,281.60, including a gain of .17 percent to 1,400.14 by the TA 25 most-widely-invested issues. The stocks outside the TA 100 stood at 1,102.65, down .15 percent.
Leading the gainers was the communications index, which climbed 1.26 percent to 803.38, followed by the insurance issues, which stood at 1,539.36, up four tenths of a percent as the financial institutions inched up .01 percent to 1,290.05, reflecting a drop of .14 percent to 1,321.68 by the bank stocks. The real-estate index closed at 397.36, up .23 percent, and most of the technology issues advanced .07 percent to 358.49, while the biomed stocks fell .99 percent to 1,114.13. The oil and natural-gas index stood at 1,344.20, down .73 percent.
