Lapid: I Don't Promise that Prices will Go Down

Finance Minister Ya'ir Lapid refused to promise, Tuesday morning, that the price of housing will go down, following Monday's approval by the housing cabinet of his initiatives for target pricing and not charging value-added tax on first homes for military veterans.

Interviewed by Israel Defense Forces Radio, Lapid said, "One does not set numerical targets because the number of variables is endless." The Treasurer added, "If there is a military event tomorrow in the north or the south it changes all the rules of the game." He also said that no targets for housing prices are set, just as there are no targets for the budget deficit.
