Former National Security Advisor Joins BESA Center

The Begin-Sadat (BESA) Center for Strategic Studies at Bar-Ilan University announced, Thursday that Yaacov Amidror, who recently retired as National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of Israel and the Head of the National Security Council, is joining the BESA Center as the Anne and Greg Rosshandler Senior Fellow. The reserves major general will give his first public address in that capacity next Thursday at a conference co-sponsored by the Security Council for Israel, on the current Israeli-Palestinian Authority negotiations (in Hebrew with simultaneous English translation). Also speaking at the 5-8 pm conference: Maj. Gen. (res.) Uzi Dayan, Prof. Uzi Arad, Professor Efraim Inbar and Dr. Jonathan Rynhold. The conference is co-sponsored by the , and is open to the public and media without advance registration.

During his 36 years in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Amidror was commander of  the IDF Military Colleges, military secretary to the Minister of  Defense, director of the Intelligence Analysis Division (responsible for annual National Intelligence Assessment) in IDF Military Intelligence, head of a large scale technology project, intelligence chief of the Northern Command, and head of the “Devil’s Advocate” branch of Military Intelligence. Since retiring from the armed forces, he has published Reflections on Army and Security (Hebrew); and Intelligence, Theory and Practice (Hebrew), along with journal articles on strategy and intelligence matters.
