Carter's Former Middle East Envoy Dies at 95


Robert Strauss, who served as former U.S. President Jimmy Carter’s envoy to the Middle East, died Wednesday at the age of 95.

Strauss had also led the Democratic National Committee from 1973 to 1977 and Carter’s presidential campaigns in 1976 and 1980. He also served as the final U.S. ambassador to the Soviet Union, then the first ambassador to Russia.
