C'tee Refuses to Grant Tax Relief to NGOs

The Knesset Finance Committee refused, Tuesday, to approve a 35-percent tax break on donations to non-profit organizations which was requested by the Treasury. Committee Chairman Nisan Slomiansky and other members of the committee criticized Finance Minister Ya'ir Lapid for delaying submission of the requests of other organizations, saying that 81 organizations await Lapid's approval.

Slomiansky said, "Tax benefits to third-sector bodies reduces the need to finance them through the state budget and it's not clear why the Treasury is delaying bringing the full list to the committee."
