Poll: Most People Believe There Is Racism in Israel

At least one sector of the population in Israel suffers from racism, according to 95 percent of those surveyed in a poll appearing in Monday's edition of Yisrael Hayom. The survey was taken ahead of Friday's International Day of Struggle Against Racism.

Asked which group, if any, suffered from racism, 79 percent said Ethiopian immigrants, 68 percent felt it was Israeli Arabs, 41.8 percent said hareidi Jews and 34.4 percent felt it was Mizrachi (Oriental) Jews and immigrants from the former Soviet Union. Only 4.4 percent felt there was no racism toward these groups.
