Min. Ariel: Hopefully Referendum Law Won't Be Needed

Housing Minister Uri Ariel (Jewish Home) welcomed the newly enacted Referendum Law on Wednesday. "Hopefully there will not be any need for it," he stated. "If, G-d forbid, we need it, it is a good law that will keep the unity of the people of Israel and prevent a fateful decision by only one vote," he added, referencing the Oslo II Accords of 1995. The new law requires a nationwide referendum in the event of a Knesset deal to relinquish land.
