Opposition Leader Yitzhak Herzog rejected, Monday morning, an offer by Knesset Speaker Yuli-Yoel Edelstein to add a day of debate on three controversial measures scheduled for a vote this week. The measures would require a referendum on a peace deal that includes land concessions, an increase in hareidi national service and a doubling of the threshold of votes a party needs to qualify for Knesset membership.
Interviewed by Israel Defense Forces Radio, Herzog said, "Edelstein's proposal is too little and comes too late. They're giving us a few crumbs of a few hours on Thursday, the Fast of Esther. The Knesset Speaker should have stopped the discussion."
