More Knesset Debate Aims to Avoid Opposition Boycott

Knesset Speaker Yuli-Yoel Edelstein reported, Monday morning, that debate on three controversial bills will extend to Thursday as a result of a compromise worked out around midnight, Sunday evening, between Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Opposition Leader Yitzhak Herzog. Edelstein said he passed the word on to other opposition leaders in hopes they would receive it.

The opposition said, Sunday that it would boycott debate and voting on measures to increase hareidi induction and the threshold for a party to qualify for the Knesset and to require a referendum on any peace deal that requires land concessions. This was in response to a demand for coalition Knesset members to follow the party line in voting on the proposals.
